Salvation

God's standard is perfection, but the Bible says, "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). One sin is as bad as 1000.

What is God's punishment for sin? "The wages of sin is death...." (Romans 6:23).
Death in the Bible is described as eternal separation from God.

How did God provide a way out of this dilema? Romans 5:8 says "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Jesus Christ took what would have caused our death and died for us.

Eternal life in heaven is a free gift. Jesus Christ paid the price. By it's nature, a gift is free.
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord."(Romans 6:23) Jesus said "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life" (John 6:47). You must trust Christ alone as your only way to heaven.
The moment you do, He extends eternal life as a free gift and you are His forever.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."

You can settle the matter right now. You don't have to get on your knees or pray out loud. You probably won't have a so called religious experience or feel anything at all. But if you earnestly in faith say the following prayer, God will save you for eternity.

"Dear God, I know I am a sinner. Nothing I do will get me to heaven. But I believe Jesus Christ died for me and rose from the grave. Right now I place my trust in Christ alone as my only way to heaven. Thank You for the eternal life I now have. In Jesus name, Amen."
